June is #PTSD awareness month. PTSD can not be seen. It's an invisible wound, and we have been sold a lie about time healing wounds. That's only true of physical wounds. PTSD is a psychological wound that won't heal without addressing it with proper treatment methods like #EFT or #Tapping. Who can develop PTSD? Anyone. What populations are most vulnerable? #Veterans that have been in a combat zone or in combat. #First responders, like #police and #firefighters, #emts, #medics and #emergency room personel. Additonally, anyone who has been physically or emotionally #abused can develop PTSD along with #victms of #rape and #sexual assualt. People who survived natural or man-made #disasters can also develope PTSD symptoms. One of the first outward signs that a person might be suffering from PTSD is #substance abuse. How would you know if you have PTSD? The #PCL is a tool used to screen people for PTSD. There is one for veterans here: http://www.lifescriptcounseling.com/veteran-ptsd-screening/ and one for civilians here: http://www.lifescriptcounseling.com/civilian-ptsd-screening/. Scores over 50 indicate clinical PTSD. If you have PTSD, get help. It's not your fault. It's a normal response to highly abnormal, stressful situations, and remember: EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique is the best tool for treating PTSD.
